Burwash hosts many charitable events throughout
the year. These range from the incredibly popular Apple Days,
to individual shops raising money for a particular charity.
We’ve only mentioned the major events on this page, but rest
assured there’s always something going on, from Bramble Rambles
to Fashion Shows.

APPLE DAY
|
 |
|
October 9th 2009 saw yet another successful
Apple Day. We were kept busy all day with visitors enjoying
everything from falconry displays to cider tasting.
The fun-packed day included advice from the experts
at EEAOP who can identify any apples you might want
to bring them and representatives from CRT, the RSPB
and Community Orchards. Jim the Juicer was on hand to
juice all the apples he was given and Cam Valley Orchard
provided a taste of most common (and some not so common!)
apple varieties. In the fields near Burwash we had a
hedge-laying competition and a vintage ploughing match.
Alongside the food stalls, children’s activities and
entertainers (ranging from Punch and Judy, Molly Dancers,
fairground rides and a Steel Pan Band) were donkey rides,
cookery demonstrations (from Cambridge Cookery School)
and even Shepreth Wildlife Park came along with some
creepy crawlies to add to the fun!

The event raised over £1200 for the

REINDEER EVENING |
 |
On Tuesday 8th December 2009, the
Cairngorm Reindeers visited Burwash Manor. We were lucky
enough to have them with us for one magical evening.
Families were able to meet the reindeers, have a chat
with Father Christmas, watch Jezzo the Magician, make
masks and of course visit the fairground, have a hog
roast and sample some mulled wine! |
 |
In just two hours we raised £3600
for the Countryside Restoration Trust. |

INDULGENCE EVENING
|
 |
|
On 17th June, Dragonfly hosted an indulgence evening in support of Wallace Cancer Care. Guests were treated to free mini treatments, bucks fizz, nibbles and goodie bags. The event was very well attended with visitors trying everything from make up lessons to indian head massages. We were thrilled that two of our alternative therapists also came to help, which meant that reflexology and homeopathy were also explained and demonstrated. Several of the shops at Burwash also stayed open, to enjoy the party atmosphere!
